Confidence

The LORD is my light and salvation – whom shall I fear?

The LORD is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?….

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27 of David.

A few months back we had the opportunity sit and watch the moon rise over the sea. It was stunning. Although our hosts chatted rather incessantly in the background, I was utterly mesmerised by the gorgeous golden globe – steady and silent as it faithfully marked its course.

The peaceful stillness of the early evening broken only by the gentle waves shushing on the shore (and the aforementioned friendly chatter of our generous hosts!)

Gifts of nature such as these, astound me sometimes. They are freely available to all, night after night after night. In good times and in bad, the sun and the moon both rise and set in glorious splendour.

Sometimes I struggle immensely with a lack of confidence. Sometimes I struggle greatly with worry abut the future. But as those verses penned by King David remind me – I can remind confident of many things, including this – I will see God’s goodness.

In what shape or form will this goodness take? Who knows from day today what the good we need from God will be?

But God himself is good and, as sure as the sun will set or the moon will rise, God’s goodness and kindness will faithfully and in glorious splendour mark its course in the lives of those who seek his face.

(I thought I’d pop in a few extra photos. Was such a lovely evening!)
